Hydroponic farming answers hunger and malnutrition problem

Agriculture arose independently in other parts of the globe, as hunter gatherer societies transitioned to production of food rather than food hunting. Contemporary units in the country tend to specialize at these crops or livestock well, with the finished products being traded for the retail industry or for more process, farm products are also being traded around the world.

For centuries, farmers have utilized several coverings to physically defend from conditions inconsistencies. Some of them even go by survival farming, on the little farmland. They will just produce decent nutrient to eat for himself, his home and his animals.

The scarcity condition of produced crops grows over the years, as the fast changing farming trend affects its traditional way of gathering and growing food. This results with the increase of hunger and malnutrition in the Philippines.

Throughout the years, parts of this country’s population come across continuous time of hunger and malnourishment. At some instances, that led from nutrient provision disturbances caused by conflict, adverse weather or pandemic. Today’s plague (COVID-19) is an example.

Hunger and malnutrition problem continually arises due to pandemic brought by COVID-19. It really caused a domino effect to society economically. Affecting, all aspect includes business, individuals, education sectors and etc.

With the initiative of ALNNHS (A.L. Navarro National High School), presented the idea of “Gulayan sa Paaralan” called Hydroponic Farming, moderated by Mr. and Mrs. Raph Pehid, the project means to respond to the needs of the community.

Hydroponics is the method of farming without soil, by only using water solvent consisting of mineral nutrients and utilizing PWI’s uPVC Sanitary pipes. It is also space efficient and constitutes a substantial origin in industrially grown produce.

While there are some proposed and experimental ways of addressing hunger and malnutrition, the recent method from ALNNHS “Gulayan sa Paaralan” called Hydroponic Farming seems especially practical and functional.
